In-home consultations typically include

• a review of the health histories of both the mother and the baby

• observation of a breastfeeding session and assessment of the latch and positioning

• weighing the baby with a hospital grade scale before and after the session to measure the baby’s intake

• addressing any concerns that the mother or family have and reassuring their efforts

From this assessment, North Shore Lactation will provide a care plan to help you meet and exceed your breastfeeding goals. A typical in-home consultation lasts around 90 minutes. Telephone, text and email follow-up after the in-home consultation are included.
